Richard Ford III / RF3RD

Richard Ford III, known professionally as RF3RD, is a New York City–based visual artist, illustrator, and graphic designer originally from Detroit, Michigan.

His work grew out of graffiti and street art and is heavily influenced by his lifelong interest in anime, manga, video games, and Japanese pop culture. Drawing from both Black American and Japanese visual culture, RF3RD creates bold, colorful work across illustration, character art, murals, graphic design, and commercial projects.

His career has included work for companies and organizations including Capcom, Universal Music Japan, Mezco Toyz, Living Dead Dolls, BEAM, and Japan Society, as well as collaborations spanning entertainment, music, toys, publishing, and public art.

RF3RD's interest in art began with a simple desire: to make the everyday impossible to ignore.

“I wanted to disrupt the spaces I grew up seeing with something that could capture your attention; something that could give just a spark to the mundane in life.”

That idea continues to shape his work today—whether it appears on a wall, a package, a screen, or a printed page.
